Avenie plays a special unplugged set on saturday 6.3.2010 at O'Hara's, Tampere. The set consists of acoustic arrangements of our own songs and covers, some of which you might find rather suprising... ;)
No entrance fee and it's an Irish pub, so the beer is affordable and excellent! I know we'll be having a couple beers while we play, feel free to join us!

6.10.2009 News about the album and line-up
Hello there!
We have had a little break from recording due to the lack of free time that people who play in multiple bands tend to have among other things like being sick and trying to have a life.
But today we have picked up where we left off: vocals.
Now, I have something quite interesting to tell you about the vocal work of this album. As it happens, my vocals chords have suffered some sort of trauma during the spring of this year and for the last five months I have not been able to sing like I used to. I can still sing and growl, but I can't sing like I think the singer of Avenie should, so from now on I will be only the guitarist of Avenie. However, I will still sing some backing vocals live and in studio.
But the other side of the matter is, that I now have the great pleasure of introducing the new lead singer of Avenie, a very talented musician and one of my dearest friends, Marko Eskola. Some of you may know him as a member of Farmakon, Älymystö or Spitleak/DogEyeGod. When we were making the last demo, Marko was producing/coaching me through the vocal recordings. As a vocalist, he is a much better singer and growler than I ever was and if you don't believe me, just have a listen to the title track of the album "Sombre Embrace" on Avenie's myspace.
See you people live in november and december!

10.7.2009 Avenie debut full-length album
Hi! We have a couple of announcements to make. Firstly, we will begin the recordings of our first full-length album "Sombre Embrace" this month. The guitars will be recorded 21.-22.7. and drums 24.-26.7. As our drummer has recently left the band, I will be handling the drums myself in the studio. We are once again recording with the Deaf Ear Studio mobile gear at various locations.
We will try and keep a camera rolling in the studio as well so you can keep an eye on our doings and also try to keep a diary of some sort for the most eager ones too.

Secondly, we are sad to announce that the band has lost yet another member. Kalle, our bassist of many years has decided to step down from the band as well due to personal reasons. Myself and Felipe shall remain good friends with Kalle and we better because I still share a business with him... =) Kalle has also offered to play with us on our future gigs until we find a replacement for him.
Thirdly, we have a couple live dates booked for the coming winter: 07.11.2009 Pub Katse, Jyväskylä 17.12.2009 Klubi, Tampere w/Soulfallen & Vanguard

17.3.2009 Avenie parts ways with guitarist and drummer
Soon after releasing the new demo-EP "The Gauntlet", guitarist Ilkka Kainulainen and drummer Marko Lydén decided it was time for them to part ways with Avenie. Here's what they have to say about the situation:
"After several years of playing metal music, the spark I once had was gone. Playing wasn't as delightful as it used to be. The members in Avenie were awesome and I hope we'll stay friends forever. This is one reason also for me to depart: I felt like I was betraying everyone else, when palying and trying to smile at the same time like I was enjoying it. The new style of metal that Avenie has turned into sounded better than never before. It's just that it's not my thing anymore. I also have another band which is for me the number one thing. And I'm studying at Tampere Unversity of Technology, so time was also one critical issue for me, and I don't want to be a roadblock when things with Avenie starts to roll a big time. Best wishes to all, Marko"
"I was a member of Avenie for about 5 years. After we recorded "The Gauntlet", I felt like I'm the only one who wasn't that exited about our new demo. I realised that I'm not really in to Ave's music anymore. I have a other band, that is my priority, and I think that Avenie deserves a guitarist who can really enjoy, while playin the songs. The guys, Matti, Kalle, Felipe and Marko are still one of my best friends and will always be. We have other music projects together and we still gather to drink beer and have a good time. Best wishes and heavy metal. See you in the audience. -Ilkka"
We still remain good friends with both of them, and wish all the best for them in future. Covering for Ilkka and Marko on upcoming live show on 6.5. at YO-talo, Tampere with Before The Dawn will be Tom Gardiner (Hateform, Mors Principium Est, Solution.45, Essence Of Sorrow) on guitar and Kari Ruissalo (Pofony) on drums.

29.5.2008 Recordings finished!!!
Yes, today we managed to lay down the rest of the vocals and guitar leads. The first track, "The Gauntlet", or "Hanska" as we call it, features a nice double guitar lead by myself and Ilkka, followed by an insane shredding solo by yours truly. Picked sixteenth-note runs at 196bpm, muthafucka!!! :)
The second song, Phantom Pain, has three solos in it, starting after the second verse into another shredding madness by me, immediately followed by Ilkka's amazing bluesy solo. At the end of the song, the last chorus modulates a full tone downwards and on top of it you can hear possibly the most dramatic solo I have ever played, full of rubato rythms and wailing bends.
The last, and most brutal song (but still the one with the most beautiful chorus), Let Me Sleep, features the first ever keyboard solo in the nine Avenie songs I've written. Felipe really did an excellent job! And again, Ilkka responds to this blazing keyboard shred with a beatiful signature blues solo.
So, we are done as far as the recordings go, soon I will start mixing the demo, so start holding your breath!!

27.5.2008 New demo sessions and keyboardist!!!
We are almost finished recording the new Avenie demo. We did the drums last thursday in our practise pad in Tampere, and then moved the recordings to Ilkka's cottage in Pälkäne for the weekend, there's a lot of video footage which we'll be posting asap. We still have some lead guitars and vocals left to do.There will be three tracks on the demo titled "The Gauntlet", "Phantom Pain" and "Let Me Sleep". The last-mentioned will feature also female vocals by a very talented young singer, Noora Louhimo. So far everything sounds amazing!
The demo is also featuring our new member, Felipe Muñoz. This young Chilean keyboard wizard hasn't even turned twenty yet but already has the technique and attitude of a professional metal musician. We are very proud to have him with us!
We are recording with the portable studio gear of Deaf Ear Music, a company I and Kalle founded earlier this year. The sounds are much cleaner and much more powerfull than the last demo, I can promise you, this demo is going to kick your balls!!

Things have changed with Avenie in the near past. The group made a decicion to part ways with keyboard player Heli Raittinen, yet remaining frienldy with her, she was a very committed member after all. She is on her way to new musical projects in the Tamperian area. In the future, Avenie will be a four-man band, supported live by a session keyboardist, or backing tracks. The Inferno gig 26.10. will feature Santtu from Piecemaker on keys, a very talented young musician. See you there, and stay tuned for the new demo, you'll know more at the end of the year!!! Yes, Avenie is becoming active again! Ilkka has already been released from the army, soon Kalle and Marko are free men again too! That means, loads of gigs, new demo very very soon.
